Top Stories: Can Congress Pass DACA Legislation And Border Wall Funding?

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

North Texas congressman and Republican Joe Barton told KXAS-TV's Lone Star Politics he believes both border wall funding and legislation for people who benefit from the Deferred Action For Child Arrivals program can pass.

President Trump's given Congress six months to act on passing legislation for DACA recipients before the program ends in March. Efforts to pass legislation could be complicated by the president's latest request to tack on money for a border wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.

  • President Trump will visit Dallas Oct. 25 for a fundraiser for his re-election campaign and the Republican National Committee.
  • Researchers at UT Southwestern Medical Center are working to find treatments for polycystic kidney disease. PKD causes numerous cysts to grow on the kidneys and can lead to kidney failure.
