Top Stories: Judge OKs Confederate Statue Removal; Spotlight On Artist Marcela Reyes

The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News:

A statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee is coming down after all. On Wednesday, the Dallas City Council voted to remove the statue in Oak Lawn. That brought a lawsuit and a temporary restraining order. The statue’s fate was decided this afternoon in a federal courtroom. 

Other stories:

  • In 2010, then-San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro commissioned a task force to look at how the city might better educate its students. The recommendation: full-day pre-kindergarten for 4-year-olds. The program was implemented in 2013, and today on Think, Krys Boyd talked with Politico reporter Erick Trickey about the city’s long-term bet.
