Top Stories: Balch Springs Officer In Court Over Unrelated Case; Tough Lessons From High School

A Dallas County grand jury today is expected to hear an aggravated assault case against Roy Oliver, the former Balch Springs police officer who was fired after he shot and killed a teenager in April.

The unrelated assault case stems from a traffic accident two weeks before Jordan Edwards' death while leaving a party.

Other stories this morning:

  • Dallas County officials at today's Commissioners Court meeting will discuss a major error made in estimating property tax revenue. The Dallas Morning Newsreports the mistake leaves the county $13 million short of the money expected for paying bills. 
  • The final chapter of our Class of '17 concludes with Ricky Rijos, who graduated early from Flower Mound High School. Ricky's learned some hard lessons over the last four years, including the death of his best friend.
