Top Stories: Dallas Mayor Says There's Progress In Pension Fund Dilemma; NorthPark Architect Dies

Work continues on a plan to improve the troubled Dallas Police and Fire Pension fund. Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings released a statement Wednesday afternoon, saying he’s optimistic that a resolution is near.

  • The Dallas architect, EG Hamilton, who gave NorthPark Center its distinctive look has died earlier this week. Hamilton was 97. NorthPark opened in 1965, and its understated elegance was a striking departure from other shopping malls. It had a clean, bright look with no big store signs. 

  • During a summit in Dallas last month Uber made a stunning announcement. It plans to have flying cars ready for demonstration in Dallas and Dubai by 2020. Mark Moore directs aviation engineering for Uber and he joins KERA’s Krystina Martinez to explain how the company aims to turn the flying cars of science fiction into a reality.

  • On Tuesday, President Donald Trump fired F.B.I. Director James Comey, the top official investigating the Trump campaign’s alleged ties to Russia. Today on Think – airing this week from NPR in Washington – Krys Boyd talked with Abby Livingston of the Texas Tribune about how people are reacting to the news.
