Texas Standard, the statewide public radio newsmagazine, has won three National Headliner Awards, including "best of show" for radio.

The radio documentary "Out of the Blue: 50 Years After The UT Tower Shooting," won best-of-show. The hourlong program featured first-person stories from the survivors of the University of Texas Tower shooting on Aug. 1, 1966.

Texas Standard also won second place for radio newscast, with its Nov. 9 coverage of the morning after the presidential election. And its coverage of last summer's Dallas police shootings won third place for radio breaking news.

Texas Standard, which airs at 10 a.m. on KERA radio, is a co-production of KUT in Austin, KERA, Houston Public Media and Texas Public Radio in San Antonio. It can be heard on 28 frequencies across Texas.

The Headliner Awards are presented annually by the National Headliner Club; they were created in 1934 by the Press Club of Atlantic City. Texas Standard also won two National Headliner Awards last year.
