Top Stories: Pete Sessions Faces Angry Constituents

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

Pete Sessions became the latest Republican U.S. House member to face a rowdy crowd at a town hall meeting when he held his at Richardson high school Saturday.

Nearly 2,000 people packed the event. Sessions heads the powerful Rules Committee in the House – which means he’ll be a key player when Congress takes up the Republican healthcare bill.

Other stories this morning:

  • UT Southwestern Medical Center and the University of Miami are conducting a clinical trial of over-the counter meds for alcoholism. Specifically, the trial focuses on people with bipolar disorder who have a drinking problem.
  • NPR will host special coverage of the House Intelligence Committee hearing on Russian interference in the 2016 U.S. election. FBI Director James Comey is expected to testify. You can listen to special coverage here.
