Top Stories: Texas Supreme Court Takes On Same-Sex Spousal Benefits Case

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

Though same-sex marriage has been legal in the U-S for the last two years, it’s raised other legal questions. The Texas Supreme Court this morning will hear oral arguments in a case out of Houston.

At issue is whether the 2015 U.S. Supreme Court ruling extends government employee benefits to married same-sex couples.

The Texas Supreme Court initially declined to hear the case, but reversed course after receiving numerous letters and facing pressure from top Texas Republicans.
