Top Stories: Early Voting In Texas Tops Last Two Elections; Out-Of-Control Hypertension

Almost a million registered voters cast ballots in the early voting period in Harris County. That accounted for about 43 percent of its voting population.

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: Texas early voter turnout in this general election is up from the last two presidential elections. 46 percent of registered voters cast ballots in the 15 largest counties.

  • FBI investigators interviewed Muslims in North Texas this weekend following an alleged pre-election terrorism threat. According to the Dallas Morning News, The North Texas Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) received reports that Muslims from Texas and three other states were questioned by FBI agents.
  • A recent CDC study found seven out of 10 U.S. adults over the age of 65 have hypertension, but nearly half don’t have it under control.
