Top Stories: New Report Says Dallas Police and Fire Pension Fund Is In A Crisis

The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News: A report from the Houston-based Laura and John Arnold Foundation says that debt from the Dallas Police and Fire Pension Fund has ballooned because of bad investments and mismanagement. The fund is approaching insolvency by 2028 if changes are not made.

Texas fourth and eighth graders improved science test scores in 2015 compared to tests taken in previous years. Last year, 39 percent of Texas fourth graders scored at or above proficient, compared to 37 percent nationally.
