Top Stories: Applications Coming In For Dallas County DA

KERA News

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: Applications to replace Susan Hawk as Dallas County District Attorney have begun to come in to the Governor’s office. However, the list of possible successors will not include Bill Wirskye, who has withdrawn his name from consideration.

Wirskye was once Susan Hawk’s first assistant prosecutor, but she fired him last May. He’s now the second assistant DA for Collin County.

Hawk resigned last week after taking several extended absences for mental health treatment. She resigned too late to hold an election this fall to replace her, so Governor Greg Abbott will appoint Hawk’s successor.

Abbott’s office has already received two applications.
