Top Stories: Catching Up With The Dixie Chicks; School Supplies For Dallas Kids

The top local stories this afternoon from KERA News: The Dixie Chicks are playing a sold-out concert tonight in Dallas, the city where they got their start.  It’s their first headlining tour in 10 years. 

For the 20th year in a row, Dallas held its Mayor’s Back to School Fair today. 35,000 people attended the event at Fair Park. Low-income families got free school supplies and health screenings.

  • Big business is booming in North Texas. There’s been an influx of companies moving their headquarters and jobs to the Lone Star state. 
  • Families shopping for back-to-school gear: supplies, backpacks and sneakers under $100 will be exempt from paying sales tax this weekend.
