The top local stories this morning from KERA News:  Both supporters and protestors will gather to see Donald Trump at a rally tonight at Gilley’s Dallas. The likely GOP nominee will also be fundraising, but it’s not going to be easy for him in Texas, where many Republicans are still reluctant to back him.

Other stories this morning:

  • Meanwhile, about 10,000 Texas Democrats are expected in San Antonio today for the state Democratic convention, which runs through Saturday. U.S. Representative Filemon Vela of Brownsville will be one of the speakers. He made national headlines earlier this month for writing an explicit letter to Trump.
  • The Oak Cliff Film Festival begins its four-day run tonight at the Texas Theatre and other nearby venues. Our Big Screen team has a preview.
