Top Stories: Dallas City Council Committee To Be Updated On Trinity Parkway

Trinity Parkway Design Charette Report
The design charette commissioned by Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings came up with a meandering four-lane parkway as an alternative to the six-lane toll road.

The top local stories this morning from KERA News: A Dallas city council transportation committee will meet at 9 a.m. for an update on the Trinity Parkway.

Federal officials last year approved a six-lane, nine-mile toll road between the Trinity River levees. Opponents say differs from what voters approved in 2007.

A federal study last year found the six-lane road would slightly reduce traffic on Interstates 30 and 35, but also increase congestion in other areas by 10 percent. The council’s now considering a smaller-scale road with reduced speed limits, but it’s unknown how that version will affect traffic.
