Top Stories: Early Voting Begins; A Struggling School Makes Changes

The top local stories this morning from KERA News:

Polls are open for early voting in the state’s primary. The Texas primary in particular holds high stakes for the Democratic and Republican nominating contests: 252 Democratic delegates and 155 GOP delegates up for grabs.

Election officials are bracingfor a high turnout in this year's primaries since presidential election years tend to draw the most voters. Early voting ends Feb. 26.

Other stories this morning:

  • Teachers and principals kept leaving Elisha M. Pease Elementary. Kids were out of control, and the state rated the school substandard. The Dallas school district is trying to turn Pease around with a new program. 
  • Acapella group Pentatonix, jazz group Snarky Puppy, Kirk Franklin and Liz Rose were among the North Texans who took home Grammys last night.
