The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom: The city of Dallas plans to sue German automaker Volkswagen for its car emissions violations. The Dallas Morning News reports city leaders discussed the move during a closed executive session yesterday.

Also, influential Fort Worth lawyer Dee Kelly was laid to rest yesterday. He died last week at the age of 86.

The Texas Rangers will face the Toronto Blue Jays in their first playoff game today.

Finally, this year’s VideoFest will open with a silent film accompanied by a live score and choreography. Our Big Screen team talks to the choreographer about using dance to tell the story of Metropolis.
