The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom: The State Fair of Texas opens today at 10 a.m. Like in years past, the schedule is packed with events like the opening day parade and the stock shows. Unlike previous years, selfie sticks are now banned from fair grounds.

Also, our Surviving Ebolaseries continues with two stories. First, a Friday Conversation with Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins, who led the public response effort to Ebola. We'll also hear about an Ebola containment unit especially for kids.

You can listen to North Texas stories weekdays at 8:20 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.
