The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom: Yesterday’s Dallas City Council meeting was the first voting meeting since six new council members were sworn in. A vote on a measure by freshman council member Adam McGough may have signaled a different direction on the Trinity Parkway Project.

Jerome Weeks reviews a new stage play which imagines a post-apocalyptic world where survivors re-tell episodes of “The Simpsons” to pass the time.

Finally, our Big Screen team talks to a Dallas rapper about the enduring influence of N.W.A. ahead of the Friday release of a new biopic, “Straight Outta Compton.”

You can listen to North Texas stories weekdays at 8:20 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.
