The top local stories this morning from the KERA Newsroom: A military training exercise called “Operation Jade Helm” begins today across the southwest, including a dozen Texas counties. A few months ago, conspiracy theorists started protesting it, believing it to be a government takeover.

Also, we’ll check in with Jude Cobler, the North Texas boy featured in our Breakthroughs series, “Growing Up After Cancer.”

Finally, NPR’s Dan Charles talks about why a case of arson at a Dallas yogurt factory piqued his interest.

You can listen to North Texas stories weekdays at 8:20 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. on KERA 90.1 FM.
