A police officer places a stop stick on the highway to slow down van driven by James Boulware.

Patrol car video shows a Dallas County sheriff's deputy flinging 'stop sticks' -- devices designed to deflate tires -- in front of a fleeing van after the driver shot up Dallas police headquarters early Saturday morning.

Video released Monday shows police cars chasing the van driven by James Boulware, who was later killed by a police sniper.

The video shows the deputy throwing stop sticks to try to slow the van, then she runs to her patrol car and joins the pursuit.

A standoff in a restaurant parking lot in nearby Hutchins ended hours later when Boulware was shot and killed.

No officers were hurt when Boulware, who lost custody of his son, went on the violent tirade.
