Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings Helps Launch Global Campaign To End Violence Against Women
Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings is speaking out again for an end to violence against women. This time it was in New York City and part of the annual session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.
Rawlings was a speaker at the launch of the worldwide “Ring the Bell” campaign. He told the audience that Dallas is doing its part. The mayor holds his Dallas Men Against Abuse rally in two weeks. As many as 10,000 men and boys are expected. Rawlings says the call to action will be simple.
“Promise never to hit a woman; to speak out against hitting women," Rawlings said sitting on the dais next to singer Michael Bolton and former NFL Quarterback Don McPerson. "I love this “Ring the Bell” notion. If you know that it’s happening, ring the bell, get involved.”
The “Ring the Bell” campaign wants one million men to promise to speak out and intervene when they see violence against women.
Rawlings joined a list of people, including actor, Sir Patrick Stewart on the panel discussions. He pledged Dallas' support for the global "Ring the Bell" campaign to end violence against women.
