Bridge-O-Rama Spokesman Jeff Herrington says West Dallas tours this weekend will include original artwork.

West Dallas is preparing for this weekend’s debut of the new Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge. Officials delayed opening the bridge to traffic until later this month, but the parties and parades will begin Friday.

Business leaders are putting on the “Bridge-O-Rama” festival Saturday and Sunday. It includes more than 30 events aimed at showing off the culture of West Dallas neighborhoods. There will be a street fair on the new bridge, tours of the area and a concert.

Bridge-o-Rama spokesman Jeff Herrington says Saturday afternoon’s parade will also feature giant puppets.

Herrington: The puppets themselves represent individuals who’ve had some impact on West Dallas. However, both the organizations who’ve been involved in building them and the artists who’ve been mentors in the construction are coming from all over the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We have students at Paul Quinn College in South Oak Cliff. We have an artist who is head of the Plano Art Association. So the puppets are about West Dallas but the people making the parade happen are from all over the DFW areas.

The Bridge-O-Rama festival is free.  For all the details click here.
