Parkland Agrees To Outside Consultants As Condition For Federal Funding

By Shelley Kofler, KERA News

Dallas, TX – Federal healthcare regulators said Friday that Parkland Hospital in Dallas no longer qualifies for millions in funding. In a report provided to the media, the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid cited "deficiencies that represent an immediate and serious threat to patient health and safety."

While Parkland's Medicare contract will expire September 30, regulators say the hospital has agreed to bring in outside consultants as a condition for continued Medicare and Medicaid funding. The consultants will be approved by regulators and will assist Parkland in meeting industry-accepted standards.

Attached are reports released by the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid.
