Dallas police are investigating a fatal fall from the third level of the Galleria. Officials say a 42 year old man landed on the ice rink in the middle of the upscale mall. The three levels overlook the rink. Cause of the fall is not known.
Calls to the Galleria were not immediately returned.
Nasar Abdo Indicted
An AWOL soldier has been indicted on federal charges in a plot to bomb Fort Hood soldiers.
21 year old Naser Abdo was arrested two weeks ago at a Killeen Motel. Investigators found a gun and bomb materials in his room. Abdo, who went to high school in Richardson, was granted conscientious objector status this year because of his Muslim beliefs. But his status was put on hold after he was charged with possessing child pornography.
An alert Killeen gun store owner notified authorities after Abdo made a questionable purchase.
FLDS Leader Gets Life In Prison
It's life in prison for polygamist leader Warren Jeffs. A jury in San Angelo returned the sentence after deliberating less than half an hour. 55 year old Jeffs was convicted last week of sexually assaulting two underage followers. He says he took them as "brides" in spiritual marriages. He received the maximum sentence on both counts. Jeffs is the 8th member of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints convicted since a raid on a West Texas ranch run by the church.
Local Red Cross Needs Water
The North Texas Red Cross has a "water" shortage on its hands. Officials say volunteers are experiencing a critical shortage of bottled water and Gatorade used to keep first responders - police and firefighters - hydrated during emergencies.
Red Cross officials hope to raise about 21 thousand dollars to buy enough supplies to get North Texas police and firefighters through the summer safely.
