Dallas, TX – One storm-related death is reported after Tuesday night's severe weather across North Texas. A resident of the Oaklawn neighborhood in Dallas was discovered near a fallen tree and downed power line. Officials say he was apparently electrocuted while out surveying the damage.
Dan Shoemaker, with the National Weather Service, says that was one of the first sites forecasters inspected.
Shoemaker: That appears to be straight line wind damage that blew the tree over. There was a brief tornado reported by the observer at Dallas Love Field. It was very localized. There was no appreciable wind damage, so that was a very quick touch down and lift back up. Then there was a more substantial E-F 1 tornado in Irving.
Shoemaker says several homes and an apartment complex in the area of Beltline and Storey suffered roof damage.
Widespread roof and fence damage was reported in Tarrant and Denton counties as well.
