Dallas, TX – Dallas School Superintendent Michael Hinojosa is waiting to learn whether he will be the only finalist for superintendent at Georgia's Cobb County School District near Atlanta.

Last fall when Dallas Superintendent Michael Hinojosa lost his bid to oversee the Las Vegas-area school system he signed a new, three-year contract with DISD.

School Board President Adam Medrano says he's disappointed Hinojosa is planning to leave just months after saying he'd stay.

Medrano: This definitely caught me off guard I'm very surprised He did give us a word of confidence that he would be here for the remainder of his contract and not seek out another position elsewhere.

Hinojosa, 55, is beginning his seventh and perhaps most challenging year with DISD. Recent estimates show state cuts in school funding could force DISD to slash more than 2,700 jobs.

The Cobb County School District in Georgia will announce whether Hinojosa is their finalist for superintendent tonight at 6 o'clock.
