Dallas, TX – The Dallas Peace Center says the death of Osama bin Laden gives the Obama Administration an opportunity to change U.S. policy - away from military action. KERA's BJ Austin reports.
Peace Center members say the death of bin Laden closes a painful era for the United States, and creates a new opportunity to really promote peace.

Obazee: We decry any form of violence. It does not resolve anything. We in this country say you must negotiate. You must be civilized and peaceful. But we don't use that method in resolving our difference when people disagree with us.
Peace Center Board member Hadi Jawad, a native of Pakistan, wants to see U.S. troops out of Afghanistan and U.S. support of Middle East protestors who are calling for democracy.
Jawad: Stop supporting dictators in the Middle East and side with the people: because that will eventually give us the peace and stability and security that we aspire to as Americans, as a nation.
Peace Center members meet with Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson today to talk about pulling troops out of Afghanistan.
President Obama is getting praise for the "military" take-down of bin Laden, including from former President George W. Bush - who has been a frequent target of Peace Center protests. The former President called bin Laden's death of momentous achievement that marks a victory for America, for those who seek peace around the world, and those who lost loved ones on 9-11.
