Dallas, TX – Texas health officials are cautiously watching recent cases of the measles, including 2 adults just diagnosed in Tarrant County. That's after nearly 20 measles-free years in the county.

One person infected recently visited Orlando, which officials suspect is the source of the virus. Chris Van Deusen, with The Department of State Health Services, says only one other Texas case occurred this year, in Houston. The department is watching the disease but doesn't want to over-react.

Van Deusen: This is not something that should be alarming to people. Again, we see measles from time to time. and usually you know, it's a few cases, one case even in several years that were reporting and it doesn't spread.

Van Deusen says that's because the 2-shot vaccine given to very young children is nearly 100 percent effective. He says most Texas children have been immunized.
