Dallas, TX –
There could be new life for the old Statler Hilton hotel in downtown Dallas.
A developer has bought the million square foot, vacant building and is beginning asbestos removal with the goal of renovating this historic hotel. Elvis stayed there.
Katherine Seale, president of Preservation Dallas says it's one of the best examples of 1950's architecture and deserves to be preserved.
Seale: This building really got the nation and even international countries talking about design, construction and innovative technologies. It was just such a landmark building of its time.
The building on the east end of downtown has been vacant for a decade.
