Dallas, TX – Dallas-Based Blockbuster Inc. says a group of investors is offering $290 million to buy it out of bankruptcy protection.
The group includes funds that are creditors in Blockbuster. It's a so-called "stalking horse" bid, which Blockbuster hopes will attract other bidders who will offer more.
Blockbuster used to be the dominant U.S. movie rental chain. But it lost money for years as customers shifted to Netflix Inc., video on demand and DVD rental kiosks. It filed for bankruptcy protection in September.
American Eagle launching Montrose, Colo., flights
American Airlines' regional affiliate is launching summer flights between Dallas and southwest Colorado starting in June.
American Eagle Airlines said Monday that from June 9 to Sept. 6, it will fly two daily round-trip flights between Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Montrose Regional Airport in the Telluride area.
American flies between the two cities during ski season, but that service is scheduled to end in April.
Houston man who killed son set to die Tuesday
A man who never denied fatally shooting his toddler son during a 2002 standoff in Houston faces execution.
Timothy Wayne Adams is scheduled to be put to death Tuesday night for killing his 19-month-old namesake son in retaliation against his wife, who was leaving him. The victim was Timothy Adams Jr.
Evidence showed Adams shot his son twice at close range.
Adams declined to speak with reporters in recent weeks.
At least three other Texas death row inmates have execution dates scheduled for the coming months.
