Dallas, TX – Roads remain icy across North Texas. Department of Transportation sanding trucks are working the major freeways, bridges and overpasses.

Val Lopez in the Tarrant TxDOT office says they're doing the best they can to deal with a 3-inch coating of ice - but driving conditions are similar to yesterday in many places.

Lopez: We were able to plow some parts of our system here in Tarrant County. I-30, parts of 121 and state highway 183. We took a snow plow and bladed off the ice.

Lopez says they hope to do more of that today.

TxDOT crews in Dallas are also using "plows", but conditions remain dangerous.

Most surface streets still have thick patches of ice, especially less traveled neighborhood streets.

North Texas Police officers worked about 300 accidents yesterday. Dallas police say there were more wrecks "going home" yesterday than during the early morning hours.
