Sherbet Supporters To Confront Jenkins And Price

By Shelley Kofler, KERA News

Dallas, TX – The clash over County Elections Administrator Bruce Sherbet is expected to continue today at the county commissioners meeting.

Last week Sherbet resigned his job of 24 years after saying County Judge Clay Jenkins and Commmissioner John Wiley Price were quietly trying to push him out. Others contend Price and Jenkins want their own person in the elections jobs.

Sherbet said he was willing to withdraw his resignation but Jenkins and two other democrats voted to accept it and replace Sherbet during a closed door meeting.

That angered supporters who waited outside. They promised to confront Jenkins and Price Tuesday.

Price has declined to comment on events. Jenkins claims Sherbet wasn't fired and the closed-door meeting of the little-known elections panel was called to review Sherbet's performance.
