Dallas, TX – Dallas County Elections Administrator Bruce Sherbet is apparently on the way out.
The County Election Commission voted 3-2 to accept Sherbet's resignation.
The two party chairs Republican Jonathan Neerman and Democrat Darlene Ewing wanted to keep Sherbet in the job.
Democratic County Judge Clay Jenkins says the meeting was to be a simple review of Sherbet's performance, but he resigned first.
Neerman says Sherbet was railroaded by partisan politics - that Jenkins and Commissioner John Wiley Price want someone more "friendly" to their party in the top job.
Longtime Assistant Elections Administrator Toni Pippins Poole was named interim director.
