Dallas, TX – Hundreds of people remembered former Arlington Mayor and Tarrant County Judge Tom Vandergriff today in services at Texas Hall on the UTA campus.

Vandergriff, often called Mr. Arlington, is credited with bringing the GM Plant, Six Flags and the Texas Rangers to Arlington.

His son Victor talked about those accomplishments and the quiet modesty of his Dad, even on his last day.

Vandergriff: He was dressed and ready to face the day. He had sat in his wheelchair, which he had been most recently confined to. He told the people who were helping him, "Thank you so much." They turned and he was gone. He liked to create big fanfare for his friends, his city, his county, his people. But he left with little when he left. But he would want me to tell you, Thank you so much.

Tom Vandergriff died December 30th at age 84.
