Dallas, TX – Bedford Police Drop Daystar TV Investigation and Nightly Roundup The Bedford Police Department, which was looking into Daystar Television Network's allegations of extortion by three former employees, has dropped its investigation. Bedford Police spokesman Lt. Kirk Roberts said his department also consulted with the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office before determining "there does not appear to be any criminal conduct under the Texas Law." A spokeswoman for the Bedford-based Christian TV network says they are in the process of preparing a response. A former employee sued the company and founder Rev. Marcus Lamb last week after Lamb and his wife told their ty audience three people who knew about an affair he had, were trying to blackmail the couple for $7.5 million.
Dallas Expands Panhandling Ordinance In Time For Super Bowl
Dallas is expanding its panhandling ordinance just in time for the 2011 SuperBowl in Arlington. The Dallas City Council voted yesterday to create 24/7 "solicitation-free" zones. Those will be downtown, in the business district, Deep Ellum, Uptown and Victory Park. The city already bans panhandling at night, along streets and at cash machines and parking meters. The tougher ordinance takes effect Jan. 1st with violators facing $500 fines. The Super Bowl will be played Feb. 6 at Cowboys Stadium
Texas National Guard To Help Tear Down Dallas Drug Houses
The Texas National Guard is helping the city of Dallas tear down 31 identified drug houses. The demolition is part of the Guard's "Operation Crackdown" a counter-drug task force program. It uses drug forfeiture money to pay for demolitions across the state. Dallas is the largest city in Texas to be part of the program. The demolitions should save the city an estsimated $70,000.
