Dallas, TX – GameStop, the world's largest video game retailer based in Grapevine, reports a record-setting 3rd quarter. KERA's Bill Zeeble reports the corporate profit approached $55 million.

GameStop's profit not only rose nearly 5 percent in the 3rd quarter, but sales rose 3 and a half percent to $1.9 billion, also a company record. Game Stop has rapidly expanded its international reach, with growth in global revenues.

It operates stores in Canada, throughout Europe, Australia and New Zealand, and has opened a total of 156 new stores worldwide. GameStop expects total earnings for this entire year to rise nearly 20 percent over last year's numbers.

Some top selling games included Halo:Reach and Madden NFL 2011.
