Dallas, TX – Dallas County District Attorney Craig Watkins and Farmers Branch Police say they have solved a 27 year old "cold case."

The D-A and Farmers Branch police this afternoon announced the indictment of Gary Wayne Pettigrew for the 1983 murder of Police Officer L.C. Tribble.

He was in uniform and in a marked squad car, driving through his apartment complex, when he was shot and killed.

Officer Tribble's case was the oldest unsolved police killing in the state of Texas.

Today is the 27 anniversary of his death.
