Dallas, TX – Richardson is about to become a key "datacenter" for companies worldwide.

City officials cut the ribbon on the new Digital Realty Trust 70-acre campus this afternoon.

Richardson City Manager Bill Keffler says the property's history makes it the ideal site for high security data management and information technology.

Keffler: Collins Radio, Rockwell International, Alcatel, the same buildings that Art Collins was in the 50's and 60's are so well fortified that it creates the perfect environment for the data center.

Because of Collins' work in government communications, the buildings were built for high security. The property also has its own electric power plant - important for computer data operations.

Keffler says the investment in Richardson is significant, and a real coup for the telecom corridor.
