Fort Worth Settles With Family In Taser Incident

By BJ Austin

Fort Worth –

The city of Fort Worth will pay two million dollars to the family of a man who died after being shot by police with a Taser gun.

24 year old Patrick Jacobs Jr. had bipolar disorder. His family called police when Jacobs became disruptive. Police shot Jacobs with a Taser twice; the first time for 49 seconds, much longer than recommended.

Jacobs' family filed a federal civil rights suit against the city. In the settlement, Fort Worth admits no wrongdoing.
