Dallas, TX – Opponents' efforts to shake up the Tarrant Regional Water District board with charges of poor money management didn't work Saturday.

Voters overwhelmingly returned longtime civic leaders to the board giving Marty Leonard 34% of the vote and Jim Lane 30%.

Tea-Party back challengers John Basham and Adrian Murray each received less than 20%.

The challengers campaigned against using the water district's public money to help pay for the Trinity Vision development plan.

Leonard, Lane and supporters say water district money is helping pay for flood control included in the plan and that they support improvements the Trinity Vision project will bring to blighted areas of Fort Worth.
