Dallas, TX – For the 2nd time this week, American Airlines says it's reached another tentative contract agreement with Transport Workers Union members. KERA's Bill Zeeble has more.
On the heels of a tentative deal with its mechanics, American says it has now worked out a similar package for its stock workers. They represent almost 13-hundred American employees. The package would provide an immediate 6 percent signing bonus plus another 6 percent pay raise spread over 3 years. There are also more days for vacation, sick leave & holidays.
But the pension and retiree health benefits for younger workers changes. The union's John Conley says the announcement marks a dramatic turnaround from only a week ago when negotiations were at a standstill. Conley says other work group negotiations are also progressing. American remains in contract talks with flight attendants and pilots. This TWU package still needs members to approve it before ratification.
