By KERA News & Wire Services

Dallas, TX – A Dallas man has pleaded guilty to methamphetamine charges in federal court.

37 year old Ricardo Hernandez-Cruz, a.k.a "Rica," was arrested last year as part of "Operation Coronado". More than 80 members of drug trafficking "cells" connected with Mexico's violent La Familia Cartel were arrested.

In the North Texas raid that snagged Hernandez-Cruz, agents seized large amounts of meth and cocaine; half a million dollars in cash, 50 guns, 53 vehicles, and a boat.

Hernandez-Cruz, who lived on Jester Avenue in West Dallas, could get life in prison. Sentencing is in August.

He is the ex-husband of Sheila Farrington Hill - a defendant in the Dallas City Hall Corruption case. Ms. Hill and her husband, former Dallas City Councilman Don Hill, report to prison later this month.

Eric Farrington, who had a late-night television infomercial on making money in real estate, now faces up to 30 years in prison. Sentencing is this summer.

Dallas police: Man killed by fellow Darfur refugee

A 28-year-old Amarillo man is jailed on a murder charge in the stabbing death of a fellow Darfur refugee in Dallas. Abdelbakheit Khamis remains in a Dallas County jail Tuesday with bond set at $500,000 in the death of 32-year-old Ahmed Mohammed. Police say Mohammed was stabbed fatally as he slept Monday in his northeast Dallas apartment.

Police Sgt. Ray Beaudreault tells The Dallas Morning news that Khamis mistakenly believed Mohammed was having an affair with Khamis' brother's wife and was responsible for her pregnancy.

Ismail Adam tells the newspaper that he also was sleeping in the apartment at the time of the stabbing and awoke to see Khamis thrust a knife into Mohammed.

U.S. officials say years of violence in the Darfur region of western Sudan has been the 21st century's first genocide.
