Big Changes In Wings For DART Bus Riders

Dallas, TX – DART plans to make big changes to bus routes later this year when the light rail "Green Line" is completed. Spokesman Morgan Lyons says a public hearing Tuesday evening is the last opportunity for riders to offer input.

Lyons: In many cases, we are replacing bus service with rail service. The Green Line, when we complete it in December, will go from Pleasant Grove - around Buckner and Elam - will go all the way up to Farmers Branch and Carrollton.

Under DART's proposal, about 40 bus routes will be re-aligned; nine routes eliminated, and 19 new ones created. Tonight's hearing is at DART headquarters. The Board votes on the changes this summer.

In Fort Worth, the City Council gets an update on cutbacks announced last week by the "T". Buses won't run as often on nine routes, including University Boulevard past TCU and the Zoo. That's raised a few eyebrows at City Hall.
