Dallas, TX – Taxi-cabs powered by natural gas get to go to the front of the line at Dallas Love Field.
The "green" cabs would be the first to be dispatched to pick up fares. Some 200 cabbies, including Harvey Hassan, came to Dallas City Hall to complain.
Hassan: The price of these vehicles is too high for us. It's pushed by some of the large cab companies to put the smaller companies out of business.
Council members approved the "head of the line" program as an incentive for the taxi fleet to switch to less-polluting vehicles.
The DFW Airport Board passed the same rule last year, and is being sued by the taxi drivers association. A judge put the program on-hold. Attorney Kelly Hollingsworth says the same thing could happen to the city of Dallas.
