Dallas, TX – The Texas Attorney General is warning parents that the popular web chat site, Chat Roulette, can threaten children. KERA's Bill Zeeble has more

If your child's computer has a built-in camera, the danger exists, says the Attorney General's office, because anyone can log on for an immediate live chat where each party can see the other.

On the "Chat Roulette" site, investigators found nearly half the randomly selected chat users immediately conducted sexually explicit acts on camera. Jerry Strickland, with the Attorney General's office, says the site's popular with teens, and there is no age verification either. He says parents should talk to and warn their children about it.

Strickland: We realize we cannot arrest our way out of this situation of men exposing themselves to our children, And while we would love to arrest every man who is doing that, ultimately parents are really on the front line of protecting their families and we want to make sure they have the information to make informed decisions and to do just that.

Strickland says parents can block the site and should consult their internet service provider if they need more information. He adds that this site is now on the radar of officials in Texas and other states.
