BBB Warns Of A Mortgage Modifier

By Bill Zeeble, KERA News

Dallas, TX –

The Dallas Better Business Bureau is warning troubled homeowners to be wary of a mortgage modification company called The Quality Florida Group. The BBB's Jeannette Kopko says the company is amassing complaints in Mesquite and also in Florida, where the state has sued it.

Kopko: We've received complaints where people say they've paid up front, $1000-1500 or more and didn't' receive any services. And at least one consumer said they had to go through forclosure. The company doesn't answer complaints and people are not getting their refunds.

Kopko says The Quality Florida Group has a Better Business Bureau grade of "F," its lowest mark. She says people in mortgage trouble should seek help first from their mortgage company. She also urges caution towards ANY company that first demands payment up front. KERA could not reach anyone with the Quality Florida Group for comment.
