Dallas, TX –
The 2010 "Live Healthy North Texas" challenge is releasing its first report card.
Participants have lost 22 thousand pounds during the first quarter of the 100-day fitness challenge.
At Baylor Health Systems, 57-hundred employees are competing, according to Leia Spoor, the Wellness Manager.
Spoor: They are keeping track of their own exercise minutes and their own weight. And they have team captains encouraging them along the way; being more active and taking more interest in their health.
More than fifteen thousand people at workplaces across North Texas are participating in the nationwide "Live Healthy" competition. It's coordinated by the Dallas Regional Chamber.
So far, the teams have logged six million minutes of exercise, and racked up 600 thousand miles on the treadmill or jogging track.
The winning teams will be announced in April.
