Dallas, TX –
Icy roads closed more than 150 schools yesterday morning - mostly north and west of Dallas. But with no more precipitation in the forecast, that should change for the better by tomorrow morning.
Still, Victor Murphy, with the National Weather Service, says our frigid temperatures will not only remain, they'll turn colder.
Victor Murphy: We should stay subfreezing right on through Friday night and then barely nudge up above freezing sometime during the day on Saturday, probably Saturday afternoon. Road conditions should improve as whatever ice might be on there now should continues to evaporate, so I don't anticipate any more traffic problems or school closures at all.
The University of North Texas, Dallas already says it'll open Friday. But other schools and districts usually wait until a few hours before schools open to decide, based on road conditions.
