Dallas, TX –
One to two inches of snow is expected in the Dallas-Fort Worth area this Christmas Eve.
Dennis Cavanaugh, with the National Weather Service, says the last time we had a white Christmas was 1997. A half-inch of snow fell Christmas Day.
Cavanaugh: You know in terms of a white Christmas, we're not real sure if it will stick around for Christmas. The ground temperatures are still pretty warm and we are expecting, even with the really cold air in place, a lot of this snow may melt - even during the overnight hours tonight.
Cavanaugh says bridges and overpasses could become slick. He says the falling snow will likely melt and turn into ice, so drivers need to be cautious.
Texas Department of Transportation crews are on standby, ready to roll at the first reports of freezing road conditions.
