Dallas, TX –

Some top volunteers are signing on for "Slant 45", the community service-learning program that's part of the run-up to the 2011 Super Bowl in Cowboys Stadium.

North Texas Junior Leagues, and local chapters of "The Links", an African American service organization for women, will help engage 20 thousand elementary school students in community projects throughout next year.

Leigh Anne Hough, with the Junior League says this is a big deal.

Hough: This project will not only be historic in its scope and have an impact in our communities, but it is also historic for the five North Texas Junior Leagues who have committed to collaborate for the first time on a project in our region.

SLANT stands for Service Learning Adventures in North Texas. And 45,000 hours of work will make it one of the largest youth service-learning projects ever in the U.S.
