Dallas, TX –

Early voting starts today for Dallas's December 8th School Board runoff elections. KERA's Bill Zeeble reports 2 trustee slots are up for grabs.

In DISD District 3, incumbent Leigh Ann Ellis faces challenger Bruce Parrot, who garnered more votes than Ellis earlier this month. Parrot's wife Lois is a former DISD board president who was defeated by Ellis.

The other race is in District 9, now an open seat because long-time trustee Ron Price chose not to run again. From some voters in the district, race is an issue.

Bernadette Nutall is an African American, facing white candidate Sally Cain. For decades, the seat there has held by an African American. Election day is Tuesday December 8th.
